Heed The Thunder

Heed the Thunder have been making music around fires and in folk clubs for around five years; they hail from a commune in rural Herefordshire, and play at woodland gatherings, heavy horse fairs and communal parties.
Band members are:
Alex Gordon - Acoustic guitar, singing
Kate Gathercole - Banjo, accordion, singing
Mark Waters - Double bass, singing
Alex Gordon first came to prominence in London based Alt-Country act Lincoln in the late 90's - 'Lincoln's muzzy, noirish soundscape is like nothing else on earth' - Sunday Times 'Rare emotive power' - NME
Kate Gathercole and Mark Waters are also known for their role in celebrated psych-folk band 'Sproatly Smith'. Releases include Minstrel's Grave (Folk Police) and Times Is 'n Times Was. 'shining stars of weirdlore and agri-psych' - Ian Anderson, fRoots 'beguiling songs which combine traditional English folk and psychedelic influences' - Tim Jonze, The Guardian
Heed the Thunder are well respected around the Herefordshire folk scene and have two prior releases - the 'All Those Black Years' album (2012) and the 'Heed the Thunder and Mark Stevenson' ep recorded with Ledbury folk legend Mark Stevenson in 2013. Both these releases have gained critical acclaim but their new long player - 'Cokaigne' - is the record which will break them to a far larger audience. Described a 'plaintive country tinged epic' with Alex and Kate heralded as 'a Bert Jansch and Jacqui McShee for the modern age'.
